New national festival intertwines love with philosophy, technology, science, and art

Studium Generale TU Delft and Theater de Veste present ‘For Love of the World' festival on the 23rd of March in Delft.

How can we love the world in these difficult times? What do love and a University of Technology have to do with each other? Find the answer during the For Love of the World festival at Theater de Veste in Delft, the first festival to combine philosophy, art and technology. The festival will take place on the 23rd of March in Theater de Veste in Delft. Together with engineers, philosophers, scientists and artists, we will look for ways to connect with each other, our world and our planet. If you love the world, if you need ideas on how to love the world and even if you are finding it hard to love the world right now, we invite you to join us for this thrilling journey.

About the program

At the festival you can visit an array of sessions, programmed simultaneously and available in Dutch and English. Three renowned researchers will give keynote lectures on themes such as quantum mechanics, biology, poetry and design: 

Heinrich Päs

Good Vibrations

The festival also hosts ‘Good Vibrations,’ a set of interactive sessions revolving around the theme of resonance. Scientists will show the importance of resonance in the physical andemotional interactions between humans and other beings. Interact with robots, reflect on motherhood and how we can love coming generations, see how singing and dancing can play a role in social change and solidarity, and more. Visitors can also experience and participate in installations such as artist Laura A Dima’s work Future Affairs and the workshop Letters from the Future.

Student groups are co-makers of this year’s program. They bring workshops, debate sessions and installations which foster our collective imagination on how to love the world. You can make your own art works, think about waste, imagine yourself being a frog, et cetera.
